It's that time again, Christchurch! Cup Week is coming, and whether you're heading to Riccarton for the gallops, Addington for the trots, or just the after-party, here's how to nail your race day look without buying a thing.
1. Go bright or go floral
Race day is the one day of the year when more is more. Think zesty colour, big florals and prints that pop against the green. A few of my faves:
- Aje Breathless Mini in lime β literally made for the races.
- Aje Telma Mini β playful white mini with some neat ruching details.
- Sheike Soraya Maxi - pleated maxi, elegant piece.Β
- Issy's Citrus Maxi β orange and pink florals with a sneaky midriff cut-out.
- Remain Sydney Maxi β the definition of garden-party chic.

2. Hemlines: midi is your friend
Minis are fun, but a midi or maxi keeps you comfy through a long day of standing, dancing and the odd gust of Nor'wester. Two-piece sets are a great middle ground β browse our sets.
3. Think about the grass
Stilettos + lawn = sinking. Go for block heels, wedges or heel protectors. Your feet will thank you by race 6.
4. Headwear makes the outfit
A fascinator, headband or statement bow takes a dress from "nice" to "best dressed". Keep the dress simple if your headpiece is big, and vice versa.
5. Plan for Canterbury weather
Spring in Christchurch can be 25 degrees or 12 degrees β sometimes on the same day. Bring a blazer or trench you can throw on over your dress for the walk home.
6. Book early (seriously)
Cup Week is our busiest week of the year and the good stuff goes fast. Filter by your size in Races & Cup Week, pick your date, and if you're torn between two, add a Back Up Dress with code BACKUP for 50% off the second.
See you trackside! Tag @byjessrentals in your race day pics β we love seeing our dresses out on the town.
Love Jess xx
